Update
It’s been so long since I’ve written on here that I’ve been intimidated by all of the things that have happened that I need to document on here, and so I haven’t written. Well, I’m just jumping in, and I’ll have to post the pics of the first day of kindergarten some other time. I just have to quickly say that this Fall has been absolutely crazy around here. I knew that kindergarten would be an adjustment, but wow! it really was. VA did pretty well after the first few weeks, but it’s taken me quite a few more weeks to get my feet under me again. There are so many good things going on that it’s been hard to pick and choose the ones that we’d like to be a part of. VA has started violin lessons at school with the lady that taught me to play, and she’s loving it so far. AP is doing great at her school, and my teaching at NCS is going well. I am totally convinced that I have been a better parent after having my own thing to do for 3 hours a week. It’s great!
Some things of note:
VA told me last week that she had gotten tired of wearing bows in her hair all the time. I knew the time was coming; I’m just glad we made it this far with big bows.
AP has learned her colors, but has also learned that it’s funny to use the word “poop” in casual conversation, as in “you’re a poopy.” Lovely. Just a side note, she didn’t learn this in school.
I’ve discovered that as I’m tucking VA in to bed she is most likely to tell me things about her day and about relationships at school. Tonight I learned that one of her friends kissed her boyfriend on the playground this morning. So we had our first discussion about boys….wow. I’m just waiting for the “oooh, boys are gross” stage to hit, and then I hope I’ll be safe for a few more years. My fifth grade students are still in this stage, or at least they pretend to be, so there’s hope.
We had a lovely visit from my sister and her family last month, and I need to post pics of that too. Obviously, I haven’t emptied the camera lately. Well, this is better than no post at all.
